Gaea L. Honeycutt, Founder and President of G.L. Honeycutt Consulting, LLC, has more than 18 years experience in program management, evaluation and analysis, publication development, and marketing communications strategy. She has worked in both the nonprofit and for profit sectors, serving entrepreneurs, research and development companies, small businesses and nonprofits.
Ms. Honeycutt brings a broad perspective to her work, with experience in areas ranging from publishing to social science to small business start-ups to philanthropy. She has served as communications director for a government agency, senior research associate for a national healthcare project, acting director of an association, secretary of the corporation for a community wealth enterprise, and a development officer for a New England college. Ms. Honeycutt began her career providing public relations, technical assistance, project management for a national publishing center, and conducting communications for a statewide child welfare initiative. A freelance writer and editor, she writes feature articles and reports, and edits fiction and nonfiction. Her editing projects include Mending the Cloth: Healing Clergy Domestic Violence, Break the Code: A Parental Guide to Internet Safety (2nd ed.), The World Five Feet Above Ground, and Rose Tainted Justice: Privilege, Power, and Internal Affairs. She has written several articles, including “Roe vs. Wade 35 Years Later” for Average Girl Magazine; “Folded Optics May Boost UAS Vision” and “How Much Do We Trust Autonomous Systems?” for Unmanned Systems; and “Writing and Illustrating Children’s Books - Unique Perspectives from Award Winner Rosalyn Schanzer” for Washington Independent Writers. Ms. Honeycutt has made several presentations and has been interviewed in articles for the Washington Business Journal and Essence Magazine. A Co-Founder of the Northern Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce, she serves as Chairwoman. Ms. Honeycutt is also a Fairfax County Election Officer; and has served on boards for the i play Children’s Museum and the Heartland Alliance for Human Needs and Human Rights. She is a member of the American Evaluation Association, ASAE and The Center for Association Leadership, National Coalition Black Women's Roundtable, Washington Network Group, and Consulting Women. She earned her Master of Public Policy from the University of Chicago, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in American Studies from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Bentley University. Ms. Honeycutt is also a member of the Inaugural Class of the Masters Series for Distinguished Leaders at the Skinner Leadership Institute. |
